This year´s Technoport events are right around the corner. The exibition offered in earlier years may be in absentia but the often entertaining Awards Ceremony will be held on the 22nd in Trondheim´s Olav´s Hallen. The awards ceremony in previous years has included surprise musical guests and entertainment, intermingled with the honoring of innovation and research efforts. This year the following prizes will be awarded:
- StatoilHydro’s Research Prize
- The Telenor Research and Innovation Award
- NTNU and Sintef’s Technology Prize
- Technoport’s Prize for Innovative Environmental Technology

Three upcoming technology seminars in Trondheim may be of interest:

The Keynote speaker will be John Lester from Linden Lab (the creators of Second Life) .Use of immersive 3-d online virtual worlds for education and training / Second Life as a platform for collaborative work, simulation, and experiential learning. - ITovation 3.0: 22. Oct. beginning at 3:00 PM, Place: NTNU
Among the speakers: John Markus Lervik, CEO of FAST, and Corporate Vice President of the Microsoft Enterprise Search Group. For the complete program with topics, see the ITovation website. The mix of guests has proven in the past to be extremely informative, and I definitely recommend it. - Telenor Seminar: 23. Oct. 9.00 – 12.00 AM, Place: Tyholt.
Featuring lectures: from Telenor´s Research and Innovation and Prize Winner, in addition to Telenor´s Rich Ling, Marie Austenaa, and Egil Bredgaten, discussing future internet and mobile technology trends and applications.
